The Body Remembers
Something happened this week. Maybe you felt it too.
I noticed it on a morning that started like every other one this winter. Dark. Cold. The kind of morning where the covers make a strong case and the alarm makes a weak one. But I got up anyway because that's the deal I made with myself back in January.
And somewhere between the warmup and the second set, I realized my body had changed. Not in a way anyone else would notice. But the stairs didn't register anymore. The stretch that used to fight me just opened up. I reached for something without thinking about it and there was range that wasn't there two months ago.
That's what happens around week five or six of real consistency. The body starts answering back. Not loudly. Not all at once. But in these small, quiet ways that tell you the work is landing.
If you've been in this since February, you're in the middle of the runway now. This is the part that doesn't get a highlight reel. The part between the promise and the payoff. And this is where most people start finding excuses about how busy the week got.
You're still here. That counts.
I've been saying this for years and I'll keep saying it. The season doesn't care about your intentions. It cares about your preparation. The water doesn't ask what you planned to do. It asks what you actually did. Every rep, every cold morning, every time you chose to move when staying still would have been easier. That's compounding right now whether you feel it or not.
