How To Wing Foil: Recommended Accessories

So you've got your board and your first wing -- WOO HOO! Awesome. So what else might you want or need to make your experience better? We have two recommendations that you won't regret following.

Waist Leash

A waist leash frees up your hands to paddle into your environment. If you're on a lake you may want to paddle away from docks and other shoreline obstructions. If you're in the ocean, you may need to paddle through the shore break to get to a location where you can safely begin wing foiling. A waist leash is a great way to go. Our current favorite is the Armstrong Ultimate Waist leash because it has the 'quick release' feature. A feature that you may never use but if you get wrapped up in your gear or if a big wave hits you and you're tumbling, you'll be VERY happy you have it. - Armstrong Ultimate Waist Leash

Power Link Control Bar

The power link control bar is a 20.5" (52cm) carbon bar that attaches onto your wing foil wing handles. Armstrong makes an all carbon model with great velcro straps for easy on/off. When you're reaching down (as a beginner or intermediate rider) it really helps to have a bar in addition to the handles. Additionally, when you're wave riding and re-grabbing the wing to adjust your position on the wave or to accelerate out of it, your focus is on the wave, the bar is nice to have for 'no look' grabs which you'll have in wave riding or transitions. You can make one of your own but for $99 we recommend pulling the trigger on the Armstrong model. Wing Foil Power Link Control Bar
