Half-Life

Fit For Spring Health Challenge

There is nothing like a challenge to motivate performance. Think about getting in shape to climb a mountain, or run a 10k, or going to your 20 year high school reunion. It works every time… well almost. There was that beer chugging contest in college. We trained diligently for four solid years (we were serious athletes) and still lost to those guys who could open their throats like swamp frogs. (As demonstrated by the GOAT below)

Some might say beer chugging is not a constructive way to challenge yourself. And Half-Life wants to inspire a better you. So we won’t mention other destructive challenges in which we have shamefully participated, like that chili dog eating contest, or the “who can stay in the glacier bay the longest and shrink your balls the most” contest, or “bet you can’t ride your bike down that stairwell,” or… wait, we weren’t going to mention them. Instead, take a minute to think of your own ridiculous list of challenges.

Now, how about a challenge you can take pride in. This month, the Half-Life team is sponsoring the “Fit for Spring” Challenge, a way to trick yourself into a healthier and better you, and have fun doing it. Go here to sign up. Essentially, the Challenge is a little motivation to eat better and get some exercise. (But you can bet the Half-Life Editorial Board will have some side bets like, “Who’s man boobs shrunk the most,” and “who ate the fewest chili dogs.”)

Springtime is the time to get outside, to have fun in all the Half-Life endeavors we have been dreaming of through this never-ending pandemic winter. So let’s sculpt that Dad Bod, get that heart in shape, eat a few less pork rinds and a little more yogurt, and turn that Greek-god dad bod into a Roman-god bod.

(And keep an eye out for our summer challenge that may be coming in June. We are still trying to decide what to do: “Brazilian Back Wax Challenge,” “Cure that Toe Fungus Challenge,” or my favorite, “Stay Out of Jail for a Month Challenge.”)

Stay Tuned. If you’re looking for some extra motivation, check out this video with Dale McClure. He did his first 70.3 Ironman at age 52 and is still going strong!

Or… if you’re interested in learning any discipline of foiling — check out our conversation with 5 time Master of the Ocean and 2 time Red Bull Ultimate Waterman Zane Schweitzer.

We’re here at Half-Life for you! Hopefully our 31 day challenge resonates with you and you, like us, really can’t see the down side of eating better, cutting the alcohol consumption down, and exercising a bit more so that we’re in better shape to do more of what we love to do this spring. It’s a simple challenge and you might just get selected to receive one of the give aways we’ll be doing through out the month. https://www.halflife.live/fit-for-spring-intro

As always, we truly appreciate your support and continue to be dedicated to do whatever we can to help you live an active and vibrant life. To these ends we’ve expanded our water sport lessons to include Maui, Los Barriles Mexico, and Hatteras North Carolina. Whatever water sport you’d like to try or learn, we’ve got you covered whether you’re sneaking away for a couple hours on a work trip or if you’d like to experience the sport with your spouse or kids. Reach out and we’ll get you dialed.

All the best,
Tim
