Family Boat Driving Lessons

Description

Family members may be new to boating. We have 5 decades of experience driving boats, are on the water most days of the years, and are familiar with most makes and models. If you have a new driver and want them to learn to drive Wake Surfers, Wake Foilers, and or Tubers safely, this lesson is for you.

This is not a replacement for Coast Guard training. A valid state boaters license is a pre-requisite. Half-Life assumes no liability for any actions of former students.

Covered in this course:

  • Safe towing practices

  • Throttle management for different water disciplines

  • Docking approach and strategies for varying conditions

  • Captains duties as it relates to keeping passengers safe

  • Basic fender and line management for tying up - including stern line, bow line, and spring line

  • Gear suggestions (life jacket, wake board, wake surf board, etc)

Instructor is a US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Master Captain (25 GRT upon near coastal waters). Both Tim and John have their thrill craft and tow-in certifications for Hawaii.
